KAT PEARSON… The singer whose musical origins date back to her family’s migration as slaves from Africa into the cotton fields of rural Tennessee USA.
Kat has shared the stage with many great artists, from Chicago Blues Queens Deitra Farr and Peaches Staten to Blues Hall of Fame inductees Mud Morganfield and Lil’ Jimmy Reed. As a “Pop Artist” her performance with “Skin” backing Diana Brown and Barrie K Sharpe on the Jonathan Ross Show has clocked up many hits on YouTube to date. In the 90’s Kat appeared on Top of The Pops, TGIF, Richard & Judy, also in several “pop promos” with the Chemical Brothers, Eternal, Boys II Men and Sly & Robbie to name a few. However, it was her performance on Channel 4 “The Word” that won her a contract with Columbia Records, which led to extensive touring of the UK, Europe, and Australia. After a standing ovation at the Montreaux festival she went on to lend her vocals on Acid Jazz, London Records and Music for Nations record labels.
In the ”twenty-tens” the band “Kat & Co was created with her fellow band members. Their contemporary “beat” driven sound immediately gained rave reviews for their live shows. They recorded two studio albums, “I KAT THE BLUES” and “BLUES IS THE NEW COOL. However, the band found it difficult to keep their momentum high without the “true” support from within the Blues community. After a short hiatus Kat teamed up with her long-time producer Francesco Accurso to create a sound that is the template of a nostalgic repertoire of Blues/Soul/Jazz infused tunes sung from a female perspective.“MY ROOTS” was Kat’s first solo album released and toured in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Today we find Kat back in the studio writing and recording a follow up second solo album, expect a few singles and videos releases in 2023.
